Blutweiderich Lythrum salicaria

„Blutweiderich-Likör“
15 bis 20 voll erblühte Stängel nehmen und die Blüten sowie Blätter abzupfen. Diese in ein grosses Gefäss geben und mit 1l Branntwein, Korn oder Wodka übergiessen. Das Ganze 5 bis 6 Tage ziehen lassen und dann abseihen. (Je länger der Sud zieht, umso herber wird der Likör durch die Gerbstoffe, die im Blutweiderich enthalten sind.)
Nun wird mit 1/2l Rotwein (leicht herb bis lieblich) und 250g braunem Kandiszucker eine Lösung gekocht. Diese abkühlen lassen und zu dem Alkoholansatz in das Gefäss geben. Einen Schuss Zitrone sowie eine Vanillestange dazugeben. Das Ganze 3 bis 4 Wochen ziehen lassen, die Vanillestange entfernen und in Likörflaschen abfüllen.

"Bloodstrife Liqueur"
Take 15 to 20 fully blossomed stalks and pluck off the flowers and leaves. Put this in a large container and pour over 1 liter of brandy, Korn or vodka. Let it stand for 5 to 6 days and then strain it. (The longer the brew steeps, the tart the liqueur becomes due to the tannins contained in loosestrife.) Now a solution is boiled with 1/2l red wine (slightly tart to sweet) and 250g brown rock candy. Allow to cool and add to the alcohol mixture in the container. Add a dash of lemon and a vanilla pod. Let the whole thing stand for 3 to 4 weeks, remove the vanilla bean and fill into liqueur bottles.
